Boot Camp for Parents of Teens:

Attention!  Are you preparing to battle your adolescent through their teenage years?  If so, then cease fire.  Do an “about face” and “fall in” for this training for parents of 6th-12th graders.  Wouldn’t you rather be “at ease” with teen?

Parents learn strategies they can use as their child moves through adolescence to become an adult.

Raising teenagers can be a frightening and challenging experience for parents. It can also be rewarding and fun. The Family Life Council provides the Active Parenting of Teens series to help parents get the cooperation and respect from their teens that can make family life more enjoyable and less stressful. Active Parenting of Teens is a highly successful, video-based parent education program for parents of 12-18 year olds. Parents of teens who attend this 5-week series report improved communication and more responsible and cooperative teens.

Sexplanations

Parents are the primary sexuality educators for their children. Sexplanations workshops are designed to support parents as they teach their children about sexuality by providing tips on how and when to get started and communication techniques to keep the dialogue going.

Ponder this...

“The less parents talk to their kids about sex, the more likely the media is to “serve as a kind of sexual super peer that doesn’t have the best interests of young people in mind.  The media tends to glamorize sex while leaving out the crucial three C’s: commitment, contraceptives, and consequences.”

                                                Jane Brown, UNC-CH

"You taught us a new way of parenting. Through your program we learned that by changing our parenting style, our child changed his response to us and we began to communicate."
