How to Schedule a Parent Ed Program with FLC
Decide on a Program

The Family Life Council has a history of working in cooperation with other organizations in our community to support parents.  Sponsoring organizations– schools, churches, parent groups, and other community organizations- can partner with the Family Life Council to provide parent education.

One-time seminars and workshops in series are available.

One-time programs are a great way to address a specific need for a group of parents.  They obviously require less of a time commitment, but they are appealing to parents who are unfamiliar with parent education.  Some popular topics in the past include “Helping Your Child Succeed in School”, “Sexplanations: Don’t Wait Until They Ask”, “Tough Topics: Drugs, Sex, Violence, and More”, and “Positive Discipline that Works.”

Series programs meet over the course of a few weeks.  Topics can be explored in more detail and participants have the group for support while they try new skills.  Studies show that parents need the support of other parents.

Programs can be planned exclusively for people connected to the sponsoring organization or they can be sponsored and opened up to the community.  The Family Life Council can even assist with promoting community programs.

Payment Options

Sponsoring organizations can opt to pay a flat fee, the amount is dependent on the length of the program, to the Family Life Council.  Some groups choose to charge participants a minimal fee and then the organization makes up any difference between the agreed upon price and fees collected.  A final option is to simply charge participants a fee that will be collected by the Family Life Council.

The actual rate will vary somewhat depending on preparation needs, travel time, and the number and length of sessions.  Generally, we ask for a minimum of $50 per program hour.
