This section is geared toward you. Inside, you’ll find additional information about the Family Life Council’s male pregnancy prevention program called Wise Guys. You will also find new and positive techniques that may help aid you in talking to your child about sexuality. We encourage you to browse every section of our website and hope you will consider our program for your child in the near future. |

 Wise Guys is an abstinence-based program, in which abstinence is discussed and encouraged since it is the only 100% effective means of preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Some adolescents are engaging in risky behaviors, however, so our program does include a contraception component as well to address the issue. The Wise Guys program has been approved by the Guilford County school system for 7th and 8th grade students, and many parents permit their sons to participate in the program each year.We do not presume to take the place of a parent when discussing sexual health and responsibility. You know your child better than anyone and are in tune with his life. Our goal is to provide educational information in a safe, entertaining atmosphere, where students can feel relaxed and be themselves. We encourage students to take home what they have learned in Wise Guys and share their knowledge with their parents. In this way, we hope to begin breaking down those communication barriers that sometimes crop up between parents and their teenage sons. As you know, adolescence can be a very turbulent and often confusing time for many young people. By working together, you and Wise Guys can provide a wealth of information that can help these young men through this difficult journey toward adulthood. |
