This program focuses on adolescent Latinas and is modeled after the Family Life Council’s successful Wise Guys^â program. It provides health education to prevent teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections and promotes healthy decision-making and healthy relationships among Latino youth.

The educator is very familiar with Latino customs and traditions, uses a comprehensive curriculum, and facilitates discussions that are culturally sensitive and interactive. Because the transition towards acculturation can be challenging, the Jóvenes Sabias program endeavors to empower young women to gain new knowledge and to change attitudes and behaviors that are known antecedents to unhealthy sexual decision-making.
